Federal Workers’ Comp Regulation

In Washington DC, a new piece of legislation could form a regulating committee for state level workers' comp laws. House Resolution 635, or the National Commission on State Workers' Compensation Laws Act of 2009, would form a new body to evaluate those laws for adequate, prompt and equitable compensation.

The law hopes to make sure that every injured worker in every state gets the compensation that he or she deserves without granting too much or too little. However, there is opposition to the law. Many believe that this will add more beaurocracy to workers' comp systems that will make it more difficult and more costly for some wokers to get their benefits.
