NJ office worker’s husband entitled to workers’ comp

Posted on June 29th, 2011 No Comments

The New Jersey Court of Appeal recently accepted a workers’ compensation filing from the husband of a New Jersey woman that died from a blood clot after working long hours at the computer.

The woman worked for AT&T from a computer at her home.  She suffered a pulmonary embolism one night in 2007 after working for several hours in a row sitting at the computer.

According to the filing, AT&T is partly responsible for the blood clot and her death because it occurred while she was performing work for the company.

The  court decided that, despite the fact that the woman was obese and taking birth control pills, she was inactive at work and because the embolism occurred on-the-job, her husband’s workers’ compensation claim should be considered.
