On May 11, the North Carolina House Insurance Committee sent House bill 1022 on to the House Judiciary Committee for approval. The bill would reduce workers' compensation payments 300 weeks after the worker turns 65.

Workers would then be able to draw social security to supplement the loss in workers' compensation. However, there are arguments for both sides of the bill. A similar bill, Senate Bill 975, has also been introduced in the Senate. These bills' futures will likely not be foreseeable for some time.
