North Carolina appeals court awards workers’ comp benefits to robbery victim
On February 2, the North Carolina Court of Appeals upheld the decision of the North Carolina Industrial Commission to award Antonio Pickett with workers’ compensation benefits for psychological injuries, including post traumatic stress disorder, after he was the victim of a robbery while working as a sales person at a Roanoke, Virginia Advance Auto Parts.
Pickett allegedly faced a gun that was held in front of him by the robber, after which the robber made out with the money he stole from the store and fled the scene.
The contention of the company revolved around Pickett’s credibility and the competency of Pickett’s physicians as experts.
