Construction industry leads North Carolina 2014 workplace fatalities

The North Carolina Department of Labor reported that work-related deaths in the state increased in the year 2014 as compared with the number recorded in 2013.

with the construction industry listing 19 fatalities, which were 12 people higher than 2013 tallies. The OSH Division’s Education, Training and Technical Assistance Bureau said that they will be increasing education and training especially to address “struck-by” and falls–two of the most common incidents on construction sites. A PSA is also being developed to shed light on this problem.

The manufacturing industry placed second in the highest number of work-related deaths with nine people dying, a total of five more from 2013’s record.
