Explosion at construction site leaves workers with burn injuries
Last week, an explosion occurred at a construction site in Gastonia. The accident occurred at the Williams Gas Pipeline construction site at a trailer owned by Jan X-Ray Services Inc.
According to Gastonia police and fire officials, a flash fire occurred in the trailer when a generator caught fire. “Two workers had gone out to crank a generator and apparently propane gas had leaked into the trailer or was left on in the trailer,” said one member of the Gastonia Police Department.
Both workers were contracted by Jan X-Ray Services to perform and analyzed x-rays on a welding project at the construction site. The x-ray technicians suffered second-degree burns to their faces and bodies and were treated at nearby hospitals.
